Time for a Worm Egg Count

Now that spring has sprung and our horses are grazing more it is important to stay on top of worms.

We are still performing worm egg counts, even during this time of Covid19, as this is an important way to prevent worm related disease, but as we are working with a reduced team of staff, the results may take a little longer than usual, so do please bear with us.

We can send kits out for you to collect samples to post back to us via FREEPOST, or you can drop them off at the clinic if you’re passing (we have a box outside reception which they can be left in). BUT, please be aware the post is inundated at the moment and we are noticing severe delays in samples reaching us, which could affect the outcome of some results.

Please adhere to the COVID-19 restrictions and DO NOT make a special journey to deliver the samples and only post the samples after collection on your way back from the yard, but due to postal delays, if you are able to drop them in on your way back from the yard (and not make a separate journey or come out of your way too much), we would advise dropping them in when you can, or when we are out of lockdown.

If you are sending in more than 10 worm egg counts please call reception to give advance notice BEFORE collecting the samples, so we can check the lab have the capacity to receive the quantity at that time.

If your horse is a member of our Horse Health Programme (HHP) please use one of the 4 kits you were provided with for this year. Once the sample has been run you will receive an email or phone call advising of any further steps you may need to take.

If you have any queries, please call reception on 01622 813700.
