Redwings & First Aid talk

We had a fantastic evening on 23rd May 2019 where we were joined at Hadlow College by a wonderful group of clients for our combined Redwings & first aid talk.

Vet Nic de Brauwere from Redwings and colleague Helen joined us to give an absolutely fascinating talk on strangles and spoke in depth about the disease, how to implement a working isolation protocol and how yard and horse owners can get involved in limiting outbreaks and keeping their horses as safe as possible.

They introduced us to the ‘Stamp out Strangles’ campaign. For more information on this award winning campaign on how to stay strangles aware, along with practical advice, please go to their WEBSITE. If you are a yard owner or run a yard, there is invaluable advice on how to keep your yard as safe as possible against an outbreak and what to do if you do get an outbreak.

Bell Equine nurse Ruth Gravenell also presented a talk on equine first aid and emergency situations, including what happened when a little filly went wandering and found herself in a sticky situation - literally as she found herself stuck in the mud having to be rescued by the amazing Kent Fire and Rescue Team!

A huge thank you not only to our speakers Nic, Helen and Ruth and to our panel of vets - Edd Knowles and Karin Kruger, and to ambulatory vet Sam Corrie who helped with the technical set up for the evening, but also to all those who helped arrange the evening, especially Ruth and Sarah, and to Becca from Topspec.

Finally a big thank you to everyone who joined us to make the evening such a success!
