HOOVES study

UK horse owners & carers are being asked for their views on equine research (both good and bad)!

The Horse Owners Views on Equine Science (HOOVES) Study, wishes to hear from people based in the UK, responsible for the care of horses and ponies. This includes horse owners, full-time loaners or equine yard managers and owners who are involved in daily horse management.

The aim of this survey is to get views from owners and carers about equine research, find out where you go to get information on different equine welfare topics and your opinions on best practice for diseases such as laminitis.  The aim is to hopefully allow more understanding of how research findings can be put into practice more effectively in the future.

It is important to hear from all horse carers’, even if scientific research is not something you would normally engage with, as this feedback will help the study to understand why.

Completing the survey should only take 10 minutes and also gives you the chance to win some Amazon vouchers to treat yourself or your horse!

The study is being led by Dr Jackie Cardwell and conducted by Chantil Sinclair at the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) and forms the first part of her PhD which sets out to help improve communication and to provide information and guidance in ways which are most useful to horse owners and others.
