Equine Flu in Kent Dec '19

We have had confirmation of a case of equine flu in Kent. We cannot stress enough the importance of keeping vaccinations up to date. If your horse's vaccinations have lapsed you need to re-start the course to give as much protection as possible. More information on vaccination and biosecurity can be found at the Animal Health Trust's website.

Just like with measles in humans, the more horses we vaccinate the greater protection it gives to all. To comply with the rules of some competition regulatory bodies and to give the highest levels of protection for horses at higher risk, 6 monthly booster vaccinations are needed.

This coincidentally coincides with some filming we are doing at the hospital for Horse and Country on equine flu and the importance of vaccination.

If you are concerned or would like to discuss your horse's individual risk, please call the clinic on 01622 813700 or go to our 'Useful Info' section where we have a lot of information on equine flu including how and why vaccinations work.
