Client evening: Winter Nutrition & Worming

We held a very successful evening talk on Monday 12th November 2018 here at the hospital, on worming, winter health and nutrition, with an interactive session on bandaging and checking your horse's health.

Internal Medicine specialist Karin Kruger gave an exceedingly informative talk on worming, explaining why it is so important to carry out faecal worm egg counts due to the problems we are facing with worm resistance, and why we advise worming once a year, when and with which wormer.

Nursing technician Becca followed on from Karin with nutrition advice and we ended with equine veterinary nurses Anita and Sam taking an interactive session on checking your horse's health at home, how to take 'TPR' (temperature, pulse and respiration rate), what your horse's normal perameters should be and a practical session on bandaging.

Thank you to everyone who attended and made the evening so enjoyable, those who hosted the talks and all who helped with the organisation. Also to Nic Read from Saracen Horse Feeds who joined us for the evening.

We shall be holding more talks in the new year and hope many of you will be able to join us. If you have any queries about any of the topics above, more information can be found on our website or call the clinic and speak to one of our vets who will be happy to help.
