BVA Photo Exhibition

Earlier this month, Karen Coumbe was invited to the Houses of Parliament to attend the opening ceremony of the British Veterinary Association (BVA) 'Through The Eyes Of Vets' photo exhibition. The ceremony, hosted by Neil Parish MP, was attended by parliamentarians as well as many of the vets whose photographs were featured.

The exhibition aimed to depict the vital and diverse daily work performed by veterinary surgeons and offered a visual presentation of the work BVA members perform across the country and overseas.

BVA president John Fishwick said ‘It’s an honour to have the opportunity to exhibit our members’ photographs in the Palace of Westminster. Vet’s work in practices across the UK, in government policy, public health and food safety, industry and technology, the armed forces and beyond. As a profession we play a significant role in many areas of personal and political life …’

Twenty two images were showcased from over a thousand images submitted by BVA members during the 2016 & 2017 photographic competitions, ranging from TB testing of cattle, a surprise find during surgery to one of Karen’s own equine images (who is always very grateful to her subjects for allowing her to snap them in action in and around the hospital!)
