Covid19 update - 26.10.2020

As Covid 19 makes the headlines again with the number of cases rising, we wanted to reassure people we are doing everything possible to protect both you and our teams, whilst continuing to give you and your horse our very best service possible.

We are asking all clients attending both appointments at the hospital and when we visit your yard to wear a mask and to adhere to 2m social distancing where possible. Clients who have booked a visit by one of our ambulatory team will receive a text to remind them to keep to 1 person per horse, to open gates, have passports ready and to maintain to social distancing where safe to do so.

Anyone attending appointments at the hospital, we have reception set up safely but ask you to make sure to keep to ‘one in, one out’, to wear masks and use the hand sanitiser available on arrival. We are unable to invite you into the hospital or barns to observe examinations or visit in-patients at this time, but for certain procedures, such as orthopaedic evaluations, one person per horse may observe investigations carried out outside (such as trot ups and ridden/lunge work in the sand school), as long as they are wearing a mask and adhere to social distancing. For any procedures we need to take your horse inside to carry out (such as ultrasound scans or nerve blocks), we will ask you to return to your car / lorry while we carry out the procedure. We shall then advise you when we are ready to continue the investigation. If you would prefer to have your horse admitted to the clinic for the day for an investigation, we are very happy to accommodate this and we will keep in close contact with you via telephone while we undertake the investigations.

Please let us know if you or a member of your household have symptoms of Covid-19 or are self-isolating as soon as possible. We can make arrangements to treat your horse while keeping everyone safe and ensuring you are able to follow the government guidelines on self-isolating.

COVID – 19 guidelines:

  • Please remain 2 metres from our team at all times – please don’t take offence if we walk backwards away from you
  • Please wear a mask if you are able to do so or we will provide a mask
  • A few procedures that are often performed on yards will still need to be performed at the clinic to allow us to do them safely. This may change week to week depending on the vets we have working and the evolving change government guidelines as cases increase. This will be discussed this with you at the time of booking
  • Please keep to one handler per horse and we ask everyone else, including children, to keep at least 10 metres away. Please have all access gates open and be ready for the vet to arrive, as well as removing any free running dogs on the yard at the time of the visit
  • Please have your horse tied up ready for the vet with the passport available to minimise waiting time. We will try our hardest to call if we are delayed
  • We are unable to invite clients into the hospital or barns to protect the hospital teams. On arrival to the clinic, please wear a mask and use the hand sanitiser before entering reception to announce your arrival, then return to the lorry park and wait at your vehicle. You will be met up in the car park by one of the team.  For certain orthopaedic evaluations, one person per horse wearing PPE will be able to observe any outdoor investigations
  • Reception is open but we ask that only one person at a time enters to advise of your arrival, then to wait in the lorry park for a team member to meet you
  • Payment can ideally be made via the website www.bellequine.co.uk or over the phone at the time of the appointment

If you have any queries or concerns, any of our team will be happy to help, so please call the office on 01622 813700 and we'll be able to help.
