1st Aid Talk & Live Gastroscopy demo - 21.08.19

Back by popular demand .......
Due to popular demand, we shall be presenting our talk on Equine Frist Aid and Emergency Situations at our up and coming client evening on 21st August 2019 at 6pm.

We hope you can join us for the evening, kindly hosted by 'Your Horsemanship', Risebridge Farm, Goudhurst, Kent. TN17 1HN (Please note driveway is off PEASLEY lane).

The evening will kick off with a brief introduction to the team of vets who will be covering the new ambulatory service in Goudhurst and the surrounding areas, Fran Taylor, Emily Lunn and Michael De Cozar.

We will move on to our live gastroscopy demonstration given by medical specialist Karin Kruger. Gastroscopy is mainly used to investigate stomach ulceration. The effect of gastric ulceration can be highly variable but ulcers are often associated with weight loss, changes in eating behaviour, change in character, poor performance and colic, although in other horses, they may cause few or no apparent ill-effects.

Ambulatory vet and surgeon Michael De Cozar will be presenting a talk on Equine First Aid and Emergency Situations, covering what to do if your horse gets colic, when to call the vet immediately and how to deal with a serious wound to name but a few topics.

Emily Lunn will end the evening with an update on equine influenza. Equine 'flu featured in the national news earlier this year when it shut down racing across the country for the first time in nearly 2 decades. We will give a brief synopsis on the disease, show how vital vaccination is in preventing contraction and spread of the disease and what you can do to help minimise the risk of your horse being exposed.
