We are a Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) approved equine hospital.
Bell Equine Veterinary Clinic is looking to recruit an additional equine surgery diplomate to work alongside our established team of three other specialist surgeons, three internal medicine diplomates, two diagnostic imaging diplomates, a sports medicine diplomate and a certificate holder in equine dentistry. The team is supported by two hospital interns and an excellent nursing team. A residency programme is also supported (currently we are training a surgery resident and plan to start another surgery residency and a diagnostic imaging residency in 2019). The hospital regularly hosts final year equine-track veterinary students from the Royal Veterinary College and University of Nottingham undertaking intra-mural rotations. The clinic is accredited as an Equine Veterinary Hospital by the RCVS Practice Standards scheme and has attained outstanding awards in team and professional responsibility, client service, ambulatory service, in-patient service and diagnostic service. In addition to the hospital, the practice has a large and fully integrated first opinion ambulatory equine practice.
The successful applicant will be expected to diagnose and manage first opinion and referred general surgery and lameness cases, working alongside other surgery diplomates and the hospital team. The role is primarily hospital based but attending occasional surgical / orthopaedic cases in the field may also be necessary, and there are opportunities to develop particular clinical interests. Clinical research is encouraged. The successful applicant will also be expected to provide advice and support for our interns, residents and first opinion team of vets, as well as assisting in the teaching of veterinary students undertaking externships at the hospital, and in providing CPD (both internally and externally).
